How I’ve Been Elevating my Life

  1. Makeup Routine
I’ve started to prepare myself to feel good and look good by getting ready. Giving myself an hour to slowly get ready for the day with my iced coffee, and favorite playlist. This time has been a healing time where the focus is solely me. From my skincare, to my makeup, and finishing up with styling my hair. As I started this daily practice and realized how much I enjoyed it, it also made me realize how easily I would throw this time away just to see someone. I would throw away my comfort/joy for somebody else. As I regained this routine, I vowed not to compromise this time. This short time is a way of caring for myself and prioritizing myself.
  2. Reading
Constantly growing my mind! Not only is intelligence a WOW-factor, but the attitude and desire to learn can even take you further. As I’ve been scrolling less and reading more, I’ve realized different things take up my attention. My conversations seem to carry more depth, and I’m not as impatient. I feel as though my attention span has gotten better compared to when I was doom-scrolling on my socials. The fear of “staying relevant” has dissipated. And my dream of having my own library doesn’t seem so far off anymore! I get happy seeing my list of books, and proud of myself, knowing I’ve read each one.
  3. Exercising
I was doing a good job going to the gym three times a week, but after I started my 9-5 job, I was so unmotivated. There was no motivation I could muster up. So I knew I had to put my money towards something to force myself to go. I tried out reformer pilates and absolutely loved it. I’ve been doing it once a week for about a month. I realized I needed to join a class to exercise because I’m not disciplined enough to go by myself.
  4. Keeping a Low Profile
Keeping the mystery alive for yourself. When I get sucked into social media, I really kill any mystery there is in me. I’ve been taking a month off to “hibernate” and refocus. Reminding myself of my identity, when nobody is watching. This has been anchoring for me and has helped me to be present. Giving people room to be curious about you, instead of knowing everything about you.
